Sexting (The Progress of Technology)

Sexting, or sex texting for those not down with the latest lingo, has swept across the country.  I even saw a Dr. Phil episode about it, which means it has went totally mainstream, which means there should be members of Congress busted over sexting soon enough.  Dr. Phil’s episode focused on teens and their sexting habits.  My friend made a insightful remark about how sexting is just the latest way for adults to be titillated by teenage sexuality.  They guard their talk in seriousness, and to be fair there is some degree of concern.  Still, much of the hoopla around is probably due to the erotic factor.

Obviously, sexting is a result of the technology breakthrough.  Before cell phones, sexting was impossible.  People had to rely on phone sex.  Before phone sex, there were erotic letters and perhaps erotic telegrams and morse code messages.  Bluetooth is just a revolutionary phase of phone sex, totally hands free without having to use the speaker phone function.  Who knows what the future of communicated sex? Perhaps, sex packets will free humanity.

Like many social ills, sexting only became a “major” problem when the trend exploded among white youth.  The growing knowledge of the dangers of sexting have been ratcheted up recently by several busts of teachers who have been busted sexting with young adults they teach.  One case involved two different teachers hitting up the same male youth.  This is messed up.

This kind of behavior is extremely damaging to youth.  Still, I can’t help but think of another aspect of these situations.   The fact that we are letting people this stupid educate children.  At least before the advent of new technology, finding evidence to back up allegations , which is sadly why the Catholic priest scandal so easily happened, was difficult.  But I guess these teachers never thought about the fact that the texts, damning proof of their sins, are easily monitored.  The United States is a surveillance state, not in the way of Soviet Russia (although it wasn’t too far away under the last eight years of neo-conservative rule), but of a consensual nature.  This development isn’t bad per-say, but it is scary how easily, and thoughtlessly, people will give away their privacy.

Anyways, on the sexting front, I had hoped to find this hip pop video from a few years back, which I swear was called “Text Sex,” to demonstrate the phenomenon has been around since cell phone technology evolved to texting and then picture and video texting.  The mostly white-owned media ignores trends and events impacting non-white, and generally non-poor whites, until the impact hits their community.  Then, alarming, preachy moralism is busted out as the security threat level hits red.  Perhaps, the dangerous behavioral trend is  dampened, occasionally squashed, but the root of the problem is generally ignored in favor of an easier, shallower solution.

Due to the lack of resolve for a real solution, which would be more short-term work and expense with the hope of long-term, the real problem is never solved, if even addressed.  Youth will just find other outlets for the urges, or even just continue more covertly with the same ones.  The authorities use the same strategy when dealing with behaviors like drugs, prostitution, or even skateboarding.  Cracking down on a shallow, specific target produces superficial solutions.

If I were sweeping up a giant mess, I would first push a lot of the debris to a central location before sweeping it up.  When I have initially cleared an area, all I have done is push the debris into a new location.  Since I have not actually removed any of the debris I have not solved the problem.  When authorities push out unwanted behaviors in an area, they are only usually pushing them to different areas.  For example, the State of Michigan’s social services took a big cut in the 1980s, which resulted in many things including the release of many mentally ill people.  To solve the problem of what to do with this population, many places provided the patients with one-way bus tickets to Kalamazoo.  Obviously, this was only a local solution that moved the problem.

Parents have only recently begun to catch onto to what their kids have been doing with their phones.  Perhaps, they should have been paying attention to what the wholesome shows their children are watching. I found this sexting cultural artifact from

And sexting isn’t just an adolescent thing.  All the sexting talk is inspired by the release of former-Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s sext messages that got him thrown out of office.  Although, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to see him living in the Mayor’s Mansion again.  Recently, 682 pages of Kwame’s texts were publicly released.  I have read through 170 pages so far.  Check back to see what I uncover. You can find the text pdfs here: . If anyone is able to actually convert the pdf files into text format let me know how you did it.  I have tried it multiple times with multiple programs and have ended up with nothing.

I have to make it public. It’s suppose to be secret, however most people in Austin, Tx knows about it. The police department has machine that can read your mind. It can also change the way you feel. Sexual impulses, anger, and causing you to feel fear paranoia, basically anyway they would like to feel. This means it can cause a girl or boy to feel sexual. So sexual that they will have sex with strangers. This is just like rape. This is just one crime they commit with this machine. A machine that can read someone’s mind will be used to violate everyones civil rights. Ideas and secrets about company will be stolen by their competition with ease. People will be spied on in there homes, without a warrant. (this means someone will be able to watch you during intimacy without your knowledge.) There are a lot of people all over the United States knowing about this machine and the police department being able to use it. Start thinking about how the government has given the police department a weapon to commit not only one of the biggest civil rights violations of all time, but to commit war crimes such as rape and interrogation without the knowledge of the victim. I know it is hard to believe however if you happen to know someone in the police department, just ask if they have this machine. After that, I would also like people to think about how we are able to get the government to stop letting the police department violate civil rights and commit war crimes against there own citizens.
