Spewing Blood & Severed Body Parts, Part II

Gwar’s barbarous, bestial savagery is back and as unrelenting as ever.

“Guilded Lily” starts off the second half of the America Must Be Destroyed.  If you have made it this far into the album then the purity of your lilywhiteness has been irreparably tainted.  Any chance of maintaining your second virginity requires immediate cessation of Gwar.  Your ears must then be washed clean with easy listening musical offerings, the blander the better.  Religious music is more potent than vapid pop music, hence it hastens the cleansing process.  Down with the wackness! Down with Milli Vanilli!

“Poor Ole Tom” is a vicious, sad tale of Tom and his treatment at the hand of brutes.   It sounds like the apocalypse.

“So the death camp will be immaculate when they turn the ovens on!”

Channeling Kiss, Gwar delivers some wicked guitar riffs on an ode to rock titled “Rock’n’Roll Never Felt So Good.”  As usual, sexually perverse, Evil Knievel style ridonkulous lyrics are utilized in describing a tale of groupie decadence.  All in all, it is an awesome guitar song.

“Blimey”‘ has a beginning tempo is not for the pregnant or those with heart conditions.  The guitar/bass breakdown just after the minute mark leads into a heavy riff before returning to the speed metal tempo.

“The Road Behind” is Gwar’s extremely successful attempt at a metal ballad, and the penultimate song of the album.  An acoustic guitar has a prominent role.  Compared to the heavy sonic assault of “Blimey,” “The Road Behind” is a mellow song.  Do not fret though, drums still pound and guitars still scream.  This track is one of best efforts on the album.

Gwar closes with a return to their “Pussy Planet.”  It is a very loud song ending on a freakout.

Soon I will have daily access to the internet again, so a torrent of posts, including some funky nuggets, is coming.  Plus, I will no longer be splitting residences, which means much less travel time.  Hurray!  The buses have been increasingly stinky due to windows being closed as the warmth provided by Ra decreases.  I also get the additional bonus of living with the friendly, long-necked feline Stella.

On a last note, the Wolverines, Spartans, and Lions all suck.

Internet Hang-Ups (Got Me Down)

Posted in life on November 19, 2008 by trapperKeeper

Well, I have 5-6 more posts ready to be written, but the wireless router in my residence has moved with one of the roommates. As a result, I am trying to figure out a solution to this problem for the final two weeks of November. I do not want to again live life without the internet. Thankfully, I have Carley and, thus, internet access from her place, which is also soon to be my shelter. Hopefully, there will be no significant delays since I do enjoy writing. Last night I attended a rad renegade party that was still bumping bass at 10 am. A full ten hours later. Perhaps, they made it til noon. I will find out when I get back to the south end. Incredibly tired I am, so I shall depart to seek invigoration and refreshment from the sandman.

Don’t change that channel, just dance to the silent beat of the earth rotating.

Spewing Blood & Severed Body Parts, Pt. 1 (Gwar Must Die!)

Baerator!

Last night Baer and I attended Gwar.  While I had heard of Gwar before I had met Baer, the name meant nothing to me.  After seeing some music videos and hearing some of music I was intrigued.  I love spewing blood, gargantuan amounts of gore, pounding drums, satire, mythical back stories, and driving guitar riffs.  While those viewing them as deranged would be correct, those thinking of Gwar as vulgar worthless noise could not be more wrong.  Gwar is a spectacle is the best way, over the top cartoon-style gore done to is excellent to begin with.  Then, Gwar adds in strong satire and heavy guitar riffs.   It was well worth the $23 dollars.  Their show, allegedly restrained due to the venue, was still diabolic bonkeroony.  I have never seen anything like it.

Gwar has IT.  Their sound is impossible to escape  Recently, I have begun looking on attempts to describe a band, movie, etc with another band, movie, with increasing disfavor.  More broadly, the idea of categorizing annoys me.  As does says, “Don’t call me a follower of Tao”, which means reject labels, identities, conformity, convention, definitions, and names.  Embrace paradox!

Instead, I have been using the scale of, do they have IT or not.  Gwar is a metal P-Funk.  Both utilize theatrical stage shows, mythical origins, humorous lyrics with serious messages, and the cock rock spirit.  On to the audio carnage.

The pictures are finally in from the night of the zombie film festival.  It was definitely a learning experience.  First, latex gets real itchy after 6 hours.  Second, I should have smuggled in alcohol.  Thirdly, the neck must be makeup-ed.  Lastly, wearing makeup is a strange experience.  While we all wear masks on the regular, this is the most personal mask upon the mask I have ever sported.  It was much different, and much more breathable, than more traditional creepy masks that have hidden my identity.

Beware meat eaters are on the prowl.  Repeat any suspicious activity.  Aim for the head.

Clouds & Crepusclar Creations of the Cosmos

The sunset was real nice on this autumn evening in October.  The interaction of the clouds was particularly interesting.  The photos, like all of the ones I just posted need a bit of tweaking, but I am a lazy/busy and have not played on photoshop lately.  There is only one of me, and, on top of it all, my computer needs some more RAM.
